If your booth is not new or isn’t freshly repainted, the following surface preparation is required.

• Booth coding’s must be removed from walls.
• Rough wall texture should be knocked down with a quick sanding using 320 or 500 grit sand paper.
• Loose dirt and dust from sanding must be removed with a mild soap solution and damp rag.
• Sweep or vacuum floor to remove loose dirt.
• Scrap and clean glass surfaces.
• Allow walls, windows and floor to dry thoroughly.

Keep in mind that this could be the last cleaning and preps cycle you’ll perform. From this point forward, your interior paint booth surfaces can be fully protected with the Dirt Trap System. Now your paint booth is ready for applying the Dirt Trap protection materials. Starting with the walls. Your installation will be easier if you remove as many obstacles as possible such as air hoses, gun holders and hose hangers. Attach the magnetic dispenser on an adjacent booth wall, close to the floor.

Pull the material up the entire length of the wall. Attach the material at the far corner and squeegee into place. Working the way back to the dispenser, align and squeegee the wall material. Avoid stretching during installation, especially if you round the corner. Cut the material from the dispenser, make any final alignment adjustments and squeegee material one last time. Keep in mind if you wrinkles or —- but will not affect performance.

Move the dispenser up and repeat the process with the second and third sections of the wall. Overlap each new section with the current section by one-half to one inch. Typically, it only takes three sections to provide adequate wall protection.

Next. Use a safety cutter to cut around all windows and lights. Material cutouts may be used to protect other booth areas including end doors around booth obstacles and covering paint scales. You sure to squeegee any loose sands around cutout areas. After the first wall is completed, repeat the process for the remaining walls.

Now its time to protect the floor. Mount the dispenser on the wall, closest to one corner. Pull the material out and attach it at the far end aligned and squeegee into place. Cut the material from the dispenser and attach the corner. Make any final alignment adjustments and squeegee one last time. With the shorter floor cross sections, the dispenser may be attached to a side wall or placed on the floor as shown. Pull material to the desired length. Extend material so the next long floor section covers the ends. Avoid covering the graded area. Attach, cut and squeegee material in place. Next. Apply the last full-length floor section overlapping the previously laid cross sections.

The final step is covering windows and light fixtures with the Dirt Trap clear protection film. Load the dispenser with the clear protection film. Cover the edge of the squeegee with Dirt Trap material. This helps reduce the drag on the film. Mount the dispenser below the glass, never from above. Pull the film up and cover the glass. Attach film at the top and squeegee down the middle and after the sides. Use light brush — first followed by heavier brush to remove wrinkles and bubbles from the top bottom and sides. The film may be installed dry or with a glass cleaner or with the water IPA solution. Using a solution helps make the film easier to handle. When using a solution the film may appear cloudy until moisture fully escapes. Usually after one to two big cycles.
