Hi!! And thank you for watching this education of color sanding and buffing. In this video, we will be discussing and demonstrating the reasons for buffing and how to tell what type of paint you are working with.

Color sanding got its name from old base of lacripaint when a beautiful show finish was achieved by sanding a paint in between codes to create depth and smoothness in a paint job. The name just sort of stuck, even though almost color sanding today takes place on clear code. Compelling or buffing were first for bringing back the gloss to paint in a series of steps from a course of compound to a final blaze. We will be going to several different methods and procedures including re-storing gloss to an old finish, sanding and buffing to remove thrash and runs through fresh paint and buffing for show finish.

We will show you techniques that will help you when you are painting your car. Even the best factor in custom paint job has flaws and ability to use buffing to correct and perfect them will help you from your experiences of automotive re-finishing. Now let’s go to work. Let’s talk about some of the things that you will need for buffing.

First thing is a buffer. This is a variable speed buffer with a trigger lock and a speed control. This thing is very convenient because it goes as fast and slow as you want. We got one thousand grade sand papers, which is quite aggressive on fresh paint. We got fifteen hundred grades…ready to immediate cut and we got two thousand for final cut, which buffs up very nicely.
