Now I am on Monday morning. When was the last time you change the break fluid in your car? The car care council recommends replacing it every two years or 24 thousands miles. Our Monday morning mechanic David Rogers is joining us live to show us how to check your fluid before it is too late. Hi David. Well, hi there. How you doing? Great! Good. You know a brake fluid seems like minor things. And often time it seems neglected by people. They really don’t know what contingencies are. I have here brake master cylinders. This is typically similar what you gonna see near your hoods, near driver side. What happens is break fluid slips inside the master cylinders. When break fluids becomes contaminated heated with water or with copper, which is part of internal components. When it becomes contaminated with that, it’s no longer lubricating, protecting your car. The fluid really going to be like this color. It gonna become like apple juice or possibly as dark as black color of ice tea. When it gets looking like this, we have gotta little bit of problem. This is contaminated with copper. One of the ways we tests is with these deep strips here.
