Mike Mercena’s car had serious safety problems because of neglected maintenance. He bought his car from a friend who failed to perform even routine servicing.
I was angry. I was very angry because someone neglected the car so bad.
Simple and routine upkeep by the previous owner could have could have saved Mercena hundreds of dollars in repair costs.
If they just replaced the brake pads, I would have been i a spot where all I had to do is replace the brake pads. And, it was never taken care of. So now, I’m looking at a job of… in the ballpark, a little under a thousand dollars.
Mercena isn’t alone. Nine out of ten vehicles on the road are in need of maintenance according to research from the car care council. This unperformed maintenance is serious. It contributes to five percent of all accidents and leads to twenty six hundred deaths and one hundred thousand disabling injuries each year.
Air filters aren’t expensive, viper blades aren’t expensive, changing a set of brake pads aren’t expensive. But if you wait too long like those nine out of ten cars are doing out there, That’s when you have an accident and can’t figure out why.
