The transmission on your vehicle maybe quick with the drain plug for draining fluid but if f it does not have a drain plug it is necessary to un bold the perimeter on the pad to lower the pad to drain the fluids.
Lucky for us our transmission is equipped to drain plug making our job much easier. So we remove the drain plug and let the fluid drain into a pan. When the fluids is drained cover the plug and tighten is to its specific verifications. Be sure to dispose the old fluid responsibly.
There is a typical automatic transmission without a drain plug. If you got a pad with no drain plug loosen the bolts around the perimeter of the pan and let the fluid drain. Once the pan is removed you will usually find a filter that needs to be replaced as well. Clean up the pan and tighten the gasket and tighten your pan bolts to specification.
Now fill the transmission with proper amount and type of transmission fluid. Then check the level and make sure there are no leaks. And that’s all there is to it. Be sure to get a Haynes manual for the details and maintenance schedule on your vehicle. Are step by step procedures and photographs will make it even easier.
The money you have saved will help you enjoy the rest of the weekend and your transmission will thank you by keeping you on the road.
