Then the block is lifted and turned around, so that the hole is finalized to the perfect size from the other side.

This is the first process to the block, because the next two things need to be done depends on a perfectly straight line, to the main bearing board, for proper mounting the machine. For decking the alignment nuts for the heads are removed and the block deck is leveled. When the deck, perfectly leveled, and the machine is started, it runs by itself at the set pace and shaves off the few thousands of an inch to make the deck perfectly flat so that the new gasket would have no problem water, air or oil leaks. When one deck is done, the block is then, the block is rotated and the machine is set again. Both decks have to be cut or there is gonna be a difference in compression ratio from one side of a motor to the other and intake may wont fit properly.

This cut only took of about 5000 of an inch. The factory number stamping of blog is even still visible. Using the same mauling point through the main boring board, the block deck is leveled in the boring machine. The machine needs to be set in approximately set in the center line of cylinder bore. Then the machine is tells the machine, that it’s a va and pressure goes, and machine will take care of rest for the first half of the block. This particular machines encenter itself in the bore and then the cutting tool for the proper overbore size, which was already set up in the spindle, will go to work once its start to spin. This machine know how far to go down in the bore; fire each engine type that is programmed in to it.

When one bore is done, it will retract the spindle and automatically move to next bore, and center itself to dig in. It will go through and cut bore to size of this first bore of the block. The block is then lifted out and flipped to the other side to get finish. A piston bore that is still the original diameter, as one left the factory is set to at standard size. The normal instruments for piston that are manufactured for all over size bore are 10, 20, 30, 40, and 60000 of an inch.

The boring machine will cut the cylinder wall, few thousands of an inch of what ever bore you need. And later the horny machine will open up to the exact.

In case you didn’t see the video in part 1 of this series… here it is again.
